Wood mini blinds
The pros and cons of wood mini blinds
Before you buy
Wood mini blinds tend to
be more expensive than the non-natural materials available.
Among the three choices available - vinyl, aluminum, and wood,
the wood mini blinds usually come out on top of the price
scale. But depending on your decor, they are well worth the
extra expense.
Wood mini blinds are usually
made from one of three different varieties of wood - the
Poplar, Ramin and Bass. Each of these varieties of wood has its
advantages over the other in household wood mini blind use.
Ramin weighs more than Bass wood, requiring
more effort to lift the blinds. It also tends to have a lower
cost compared to Bass wood. So while the Ramin wood might be
heavier and more brittle than Bass wood, it does come with a
lower price tag.
Poplar tends to fall in between Bass and Ramin
woods in both cost and weight. Something to factor into your
purchase decision.
Care and maintenance of your
wood mini blinds takes a little bit of extra effort. It is
important to use the correct cleaning solutions when caring for
this type of window treatment.
Some of your more regular household cleaners
can harm the finish of wood blinds, so it's important to follow
the manufacturers recommendations for cleaning to avoid
damage.
Despite this, there are some definite
advantages to wood mini blinds over the other
materials. Here's just a couple for example:
1. Wood material gives an elegant
touch to any room. They add warmth to any room -
bedroom, office, living room, they all benefit from the wood
touch given the appropriate color finish.
2. Wood blinds are also a good insulator for
your windows on hot or cold days when compared to the other
common materials - aluminum or vinyl. This is due to the porous
nature of wood, unlike the other materials listed.
Wood is a great material for window blinds, it
is available in a vast array of colors and finishes and adds an
elegant touch to any room. But it does come with a high price
tag than other available materials. It all depends on our
budget for the room and its purpose.
