Venetian Window Blinds
offering the widest range of options
Venetian blinds are named after the
Venetian merchants that discovered them in travels to Far
Eastern countries. Today, they are popular in countries all
over the world, and because of this there are Venetian blinds
available in countless different cultural flavors, styles, and
types.
Even with all the different styles of Venetian blinds, there
are some common design elements that distinguish Venetian
blinds from other types of blinds available for your home.
Horizontal slats of overlapping materials are the main
characteristic of Venetian blinds. Adjustability allows control
over how much light gets past the blinds and into the room. The
rest is up for grabs.
Different styles, designs, sizes, colors - even different
materials are used in the endless different options available
in Venetian blind designs. This flexibility allows assurance
that any rooms decor can be complimented with Venetian blinds.
It all starts to make sense now - why they are so popular
across the globe.
Different materials are popular too - wood from different
kinds of trees make for good slats, and are often regional in
nature according to the types of trees, bamboo and other
materials in the area. This makes available even exotic
expensive looking window treatments, although depending on the
type of wood, they can represent a very real expense.
Lightweight aluminum is popular in the States. For as a very
basic window treatment available at a very low cost and sized
to fit all standard window widths. The height of Venetian
blinds is adjustable by removing the excess slats from the
bottom of the blind to fit the window properly. But if the
height of the window is only a little smaller than the blind,
you can just leave the excess slats attached and raise blinds
slightly with the usual draw string.
PVC is another popular material for Venetian blinds in the
US, for much the same reasons as aluminum. PVC blinds are even
more inexpensive than aluminum ones, are extremely durable and
crease resistant, and weigh even less too. PVC Venetian blinds
offer any number of slat sizes, colors and finishes like faux
wood.
Some of the benefits of Venetian blinds not yet discussed
are many. They are superb at offering privacy from passers by
outside, they can help insulate cold from from a window pane in
the winter, and heat during the summer. These last two items
are big energy savers that we've all become more and more
conscious of every day.
Still, light control and privacy are the main uses of
Venetian blinds. The vast array of decor matching options
available contributes to their popularity. Low expense make
Venetian blinds an attractive, viable option for even the most
modest of budgets when compared to other window treatments.
